  • Can I rotate in 3D space in Prem Pro 5.5…?

Posted by Nik Read on August 12, 2011 at 8:53 pm

    Hi all,

Is there any way I can rotate a clip in Premiere Pro so it appears to fall away into 3D space, rather than rotate in 2D which can be done in ‘Effects Control’? I want to place a talking head shot left of screen and a still image right of screen whilst keeping them both in shot. Can this be done?

Apologies for my ignorance, but I just came over from FCP7 this week!

If it can’t be done, any suggestions as to the best way of doing it?

    thanks in advance.

    Hi Nik,

Yes, under video effects > perspective > Basic 3D.

Or if you know After Effects, you can create a dynamic link and get a lot more options.

There are options in the “perspective” effects folder and in the “transform” effects folder. Combine them with motion and distort and you likely have almost everything you will ever need in 3-D terms.

    And there’s always After Effects.
