Renamig Clips-Why is it so hard?
Hi, I’ve recently switched from FCP 7 and am enjoying the many benefits of PP. However, one major irritant is the renaming of clips, so I want to know if I’ve got this right.
1. I use the sequence to review various clips by dragging them all in, looking at them, and then deciding which one I want to use. It’s easy to rename them but the original file in the project doesn’t change,so why do it? Shouldn’t I just bring in the original files (0043.mov, mp4, etc) and use the “reveal in project” shortcut to rename the clip in the project. Is this what is commonly done?
Maybe I’ve gotten into a bad habit of reviewing files in the sequence before editing them..just to decide which ones I’ll keep. It’s convenient to toggle thru the clios quickly.
2. I can change the name in the project panel and then drag it in the sequence but this seems to be slowing down the initial review process. Same thing applies when I dbl click the file and look at it in the source monitor.
3. There’s no way to have the changed clip name in the project panel change the name of the clip in the original file in the hard drive without manually doing it ??
Finally, who do I ask the PLEASE consider in the next upgrade a shortcut, or whatever, to change the name of the original file when the project name is changed. And another one to change the name in the project panel when it’s changed in the sequence. Please??
If i’m all wrong somebody set me straight. Thanks.
