    Need some help…

I’m trying to import a series of stills into my Cs5 timeline to simluate a stop motion movie.

I’ll select the 100 or so pictures (taken from a Game Cam) and import them into my bin…but when I drag them to the timeline, I only see about 4 different images even though all 100 distinct images have are in the sequence.

It seems that PP can’t see enough of a difference to represent each still so it uses the first picture to display in the program monitor?

I’ve tried different seq. settings and also importing as “numbered stills” with the same result.

Exporting the movie gives me 4 or 5 different images BUT not the 100 or so that I imported.

Importing the images one at a time doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Has anyone else seen this type of behavior or have a workaround for me?

If the images are named sequentially (001, 002, 003, etc.), then you should definitely be clicking the numbered stills checkbox. Otherwise, each still will come in at a set duration (i think the default length is 5 seconds). It could be that the file names are not sequential, so Premiere is having a not-so-nice time with it. If that’s the case do this:
    1. Before importing, go to Preferences (General), and change the Still Image Default Duration to 1 frame (default is 150).
    2. Import your images (uncheck numbered stills).
    3. Select them, in the order that you want them in the timeline.
    4. Go to the Project menu, and select Automate to Sequence. Click OK.
    5. Your sequence of still images should now be playing normally.

This is a bug that was fixed in Premiere Pro CS5.5.

The workaround for Premiere Pro CS5 is to open all of the images in Photoshop and resave them. The problem is some header information that Premiere Pro is reading badly; resaving with Photoshop writes the information in a way that doesn’t confuse Premiere Pro CS5.
