  HF100, 24p & pulldown/interlacing

  I hope someone can put some of this into plain English for me. I’m not so experienced with the techy details of how this works. Ok, so I’ve got a Canon HF100. I always thought it was filming at 24fps truly. Turns out, it works where it’s 24fps but inside a 60i wrapper (whatever that is), and shows up as 29.97fps when looking at the media’s details.

  1) Do I need to deinterlace this footage when shooting at 24p since it’s inside the 60i wrapper to get it to true progressive?

  2) How would I go about removing this pulldown/telecine thing to where it will be actual 24fps footage in PPro (or After Effects since I have that too)?

  I’ve never liked using 24p on this camera since it never looked as good as I hoped it would. Maybe it’s because of the pulldown thing I mentioned? I want to get this as film-like as possible and the HF100 hasn’t been able to get me close to that, so maybe this will get me closer to that film look I want.
