  Importing video to Ppro gives jerky/dodgy rendering footage :S

  Ok so i have captured some videos off my computer and i have some video files that have these spec:

  Type: mpg (Movie Clip)
  Width: 1920
  Height: 1088
  29fps
  Data Rate: 30720kbps
  Total Bitrate: 30944kbps

  When i load these videos into my sequence in premiere pro the video is really jerky and doesn’t play smoothly. I tried many different video presets and none seem to work very well.

  Anyone have any suggestions as to what i should use. i.e. HDV? AVCHD? I am pretty noob with some premiere pro aspects so go easy :D.

  Drag one of the clips onto the NEW ITEM icon at the bottom of the project window (looks like a page turning, next to the garbage can). Premiere will create a sequence that matches the settings of the clip.

  If it still plays jerky, try lowering the playback quality to 1/2 (This is done in the program monitor (the right video window). Just right-click in the middle of the window, and go to the Playback resolution sub-menu.

  If it still plays jerky, your system performance may not be up to playing back this footage in real-time, and you’ll have to render previews to see smooth playback (hit ENTER).

  I can see the new item option but dragging clips onto it doesn’t do anything. I am using CS4 if that makes a difference :S. I don’t get it though i open the program and make a new sequence and set the options to say 1080p HDV and then make another sequence with the drag new item method and this changes the whole project?
  Anyways, regardless the drag method doesn’t seem to work.
  Any other suggestions to auto create the settings.

  Yeah, the NEW ITEM trick only works with CS5+. To answer your first question, you can have as many sequences in a project as you want, and each can be different.
  CS4 is also a bit clunkier at playing back HDV and AVC footage, which might be your issue. What are your system specs?

  hmmm i feel like my computer is pretty beasty…or used to be, damn things go out of date in a month.
  umm specs are
  Core 2 Duo 3.00ghz
  2gb RAM
  I think my gfx card is 256mb (ATI Radeon™ HD 3800 Series)
