    Hey everyone.

Having a hard time here. Finally making the dive into HD. I got a capture module called a Hauppauge HD PVR and captured some video game footage.

I’ve always just used “DV NTSC” as my project preset, but now with this footage, I’m a little flustered.

The footage doesn’t play very smooth, sorta hard to edit. I’ve done HD editing on my rig before, so I’m thinking I don’t have the right presets when I create the project. Here’s the info for the footage I have:

    Frame Width: 1280
    Frame Height: 720
    Frame Rate: 59 frames/second
    Item Type: .mp4

    Thanks for any help!

In 5.0, just drag the clip onto the NEW ITEM icon at the bottom of the project bin. It will create a sequence based on the properties of the clip. In 5.5, you just right-click the file and do the same.

If it still plays sloppy, Premiere can’t handle playing back the codec in real-time on your system. Try dropping the playback quality (bottom of program monitor).

I’ve had a few MP4 files given to me by clients that played strangely in the Source window (pixel break-up), but played fine in the timeline.
