I’m playing back AVCHD Video, occasionally Iike to expand out the Program monitor to full screen. In this mode I set the Playback as well as paused resolution to Full, and playback looks good and full resolution, but when I pause it gets blocky, about 1/2 to 1/4 resolution. In fact in the full screen mode it doesn’t seem that the pause resolution has any effect, it’s always the same, whether full, 1/2, 1/4. Still about 1/2 to 1/4.

When in normal mode, the program monitor’s pause resolution setting does seem to have an effect, I can tell it gets blockier at 1/4 from 1/2. From Full to 1/2 it’s hard to tell because the window is small.

It would be nice to be able to examine paused frames in full screen mode at full resolution.

    Any advice?

What hardware are you using to get your signal out to the monitor?

    Hi Tom

Sorry, I should have specified stuff better. I have Mac Pro 2008 8 Core, Mac OS 10.6.7, Nvidia Quadro 4000, DVI to Apple 30″ cinema display (and another DVI display).

I do have a Blackmagic Intensity Pro but it’s not hooked up to anything now but it does have HDMI outputs

    Does that help?

Two ways that you can do this.

Drag the Program Panel to it’s own separate window. Put it on display #2 – set it’s scale to 100%. Make sure your pause quality is full.

The other, I can’t recall if it sets the pixel correctly, is to select your sequence, Sequence Menu> Sequence Settings> Playback Settings… button, External Device > and set that to your other display.

    Best,

    Hi Jeff

Thanks, that works, though my secondary monitor isn’t that big. Is it just that the “~” option for full screen just has a bug where pause mode isn’t going to be full resolution? Seems like this is effective when not in full screen mode?

Set the scale @ 100% first?

Wow, that worked. Thanks. So setting to 100% first fixes it. I was in fit mode previously. At 100% was still small on my 30″ so then setting to Fit expanded it and still kept it sharp in pause mode. Good to remember!

    Thanks Jeff!
