Which Graphics Card for CS5.5 on Mac Pro?
I have a 2008 MacPro(3,1), duel 2.8 Quad-Core Intel Xeon.
Primarily shoot on DSLR and Edit in Final Cut and AE.
It’s been recommended to me to switch over to Premier 5.5 to take advantage
of the mercury engine and dynamic link abilities.My computer had the stock graphics card, which will not cut it. I’ve been
trying to find a graphics card that will both satisfy Adobe’s specifics for
CS5.5 as well as compatible with my mac. I am finding it’s more difficult that
just going out and buying one.I currently am looking at the Nvidia GeForce 570. It is on the Adobe list, but it’s looking like it might not work with osx.
Would someone help recommend a video card in the $300-$400 range that would work for me in allowing me to get optimal editing performance.
would be glad to give any other information that is needed.

Nothing in the $400 range without a firmware/BIOS hack (which isn’t easy). The closest match is Quadro 4000 Mac which is $800 or so street.

This is what I was afraid of.
Will my macpro be able to handle such a high level card?
Is it worth it? I mean, as far as spending a quarter of the price on a card for an older machine that I would spend on upgrading my entire system.Thanks for the help!

Hi Derek,
With the current mail-in rebate, the Quadro 4000 for Mac is just over $600, if that helps at all. System requirements are:
Mac OS X 10.6.5 or later with MacPro3,1, MacPro4,1 or MacPro5,1 or later
