CS4 MiniDV Transfer problem from Sony DSR-PDX10
I still work mainly in SP and the camera operator has used his pair of Sony DSR-PDX10’s in SP (not on DVCAM) on many occasions and I have had no trouble transferring/capturing to PremPro on any number of occasions in the past. It usually comes up as mono.
But recently I have had tapes from my friend’s camera of audio of which may be heard on the small speaker in the camera, but does not transfer to my HDD.
Case 1. Wedding video – Camera used to carefully pick short scenes, by turning camera on/off into pause…
Video and audio transfers appropriately in the first scene, but when filming resumes there is a short 2 minute section which follows video, but no audio until the 3rd scene which follows.
Case 2. Dance Performance
A woman introduces the dance sequence on a radio mic. The audio is mono and transfers/captured appropriately to HDD. When she finishes and the dancers assemble and perform, there is no audio track transferred during their performance. I have asked him to bring his camera around so we can see if we hear an audio track on the camera.
I am not an experienced camera operator, so although I found the SONY manual, and there is an indication of Channels 3 and 4, I don’t know how that might have changed the output to PPro in capture to the HDD.
But I still don’t have a handle on how to get to the audio in these instances, and I don’t know how to explain to the camera operator what the problem is. Which is basically, I can’t sync Camera A with Camera B.
