  Exporting HDV to SD DVD

  Hello,

  I am new to adobe cs5 and I have been reading through the threads seeking answers to my problem…I am hoping someone can help me:

  I captured HD 1920X1080 footage from my Canon t3i DSLR and created a project in Premiere Pro. I need help knowing the process for turning it into an SD DVD so that it is viewable on a regular DVD.

  I tried exporting it as a quicktime movie and it took 10 hrs to render (it is 1:16mins long) and the properties said it was 16G. That is really big, and I want to put it on a DVD-R (4.7G).

  Can someone suggest what are my next steps…and confirm the correct process/outputs for this?

  As a test I brought the quicktime mov file into it into Encore and created a DVD…I just used the default settings and am not really sure if I did things correctly.

  Hi Justin,

  Choose MPEG 2- DVD

  Set your video settings to:

  2 pass VBR.

  Set Max: 7.5 Mb/s – Aver: 6.35 – Min: 2.5

  Make sure you check Max Quality (Better downscaling)

  Take another day off for rendering 🙂

  PS: Try https://dvd-hq.info/bitrate_calculator.php to get the correct bit rate settings for your next DVD.

  For anything under 1 hour, you can use 7.5 Mb CBR.

  Thanks Vince…I am brand new to this…I actually encoded to MPEG2-DVD and it worked. I have not tried to the other specs you mentioned but will have a look.

  Where do you suggest a person could go online to learn more about this topic?

  Hi Justin,

  Feel free to ask more questions here. I don’t know of any particular resources that will help with Premiere DVD encoding options, other than the help file itself.

  A good bit rate calculator should be all you need to calculate your settings. It also help to understand GOP structure. This pretty much the only thing I found in the little time I had…
