  Audio from XD EX in Premiere CS5

  Ok, I’m new to Premiere so I’m sure I’m doing something totally wrong and there’s a very easy fix for this.
  My clips seem like they have no audio. When I play them in the source monitor I hear nothing. I know I’m captureing audio, because 1. I’m not that dumb, and 2. when I watch the thumbnails in the XDEX i hear the audio.
  OK, so I know there’s audio but I cannot hear it WITHOUT tricking it into working…I’ve messed around with it and ‘extracted the audio’ through the clip menu. Then, sometimes, I can drag my clip down and the audio is there.
  Like I said, I’m sure I’m doing something on the Premiere end incorrectly, but I know I’m shooting right.

  Do your sequence audio settings fit your sound card? How is the audio output specified for that sequence?

  Or…do you have a video I/O card in the machine? Sometimes the audio output is targeted to some other destination than your sound card.

  The source monitor will still send audio to the sound card, but the sequence sends it elsewhere based on your sequence settings.
