  .mp4 import corrupting audio

  Hi
  I have a bunch of .mp4 clips shot on a JVC GY HM700.I import them into Premier CS 4 and there is a sporadic and very loud hiss on the audio that knocks out all the other sound. It occurs on about thirty percent of the clips and is in bursts of several seconds duration. It can be seen on the waveform as great big chunks of hiss.

  I assumed that this was a camera problem but it is not.
  I played the corrupted clips in VLC player and they play back fine with pristine audio. I used VLC player to strip the audio and can import the resulting wav into premier and there is no hiss whatsoever.

  I can replace the audio from the clip with this Wav and all is fine.
  I have tried to import with different sequence settings etc but always the audio becomes corrupted on the same clips in the exact same place, the same happens if I try and import into After Effects.

  As I am shooting a documentary and generating a large amount of footage to have to use VLC and replace the audio seems a lot of extra work.

  If anyone has any ideas or has experienced a similar issue I would really love to hear how and what could be done to resolve this strange
  occurrence.
