  encoding problems

  I have been doing a few videos for my church in Premiere. I shoot the footage on an xl-h1 and export it as a quicktime file using HDV 1080p30. I then upload the video file to vimeo. My problem is it plays fine on vimeo but whenever anyone tries to download the file or I transfer it to another computer it will not play correctly. What should I encode these files as to make them compatible with the most computers. They are 5 min long and I don’t want them to be more than 750mb. Thanks

  What do you mean by not play correctly? When downloaded to someone’s computer, are you seeing it lag and stutter?

  In my experience only computers with quad core processors or graphics card enhanced video playback can handle 1080p footage. Try downsizing it to 720p, this will ease the computing power needed to display this video.

  That would be my first guess.

  It wont play at all, it is about a 30 sec file audio only, black background. Someone was telling me macs can’t play hdv footage or something. I am just trying to figure out what the “default” format is that would work for everyone. Thanks
