  • How do I Synchronize time of nested sequences?

Posted by John Rowe on February 23, 2011 at 3:54 am

    Hi,

When I use Nested Sequences and I double click on a daughter sequence inside my main sequence, while Premiere does open the daughter sequence the timeline cursor does not reflect the same position within it. This makes jumping between mother and daughter sequences while editing really confusing. Is there any way to fix this?

In After Effects you can set a preference setting to do this called “Synchronize Time of All Related Items.”
    Is there any Premiere equivalent?

    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,
    John

So you want to open parked on to the corresponding match frame in the nest?

I agree this would be handy….I don’t think there is a way to mod the behavior.

Would make an excellent feature request.

    As a klunky work around….

    1) in main timeine, mark an IN at the head of the nested clip and an OUT where you want to park.

    2) note the duration

    3) Open the nest

    4) use the noted duration to know where you need to move the Time line cursor…or just “+” and the value of the duration and “enter” to jump to that point in time quickly

    Thanks Alex.

It’s a bummer Premiere can’t do this. Sometimes I wish Premiere was just a little bit more like After Effects.

Then again, I wish After Effects could play video in realtime instantly like Premiere can. 😉

    Thanks again,
    John

Does anyone know if there is any similar shortcut in PP CS6?

Shift+T should work in premiere pro CS6. Works for me.
Check to see what your keyboard shortcuts are set to. Mine are set to Final Cut Pro keystroke.

I am trying this shortcut in PP CS6 but it is not working for me. I have the nested sequence selected, and pressing Ctrl+T does nothing..I tried Ctrl+Shift+T as well, no luck. What am I doing wrong here?
