  Premiere Pro CS5 crash when exporting sequence

  i am using a 5i with 8 Gig machine with Nvidia 470.
  my project is an indi 80min feature shot in full HD on the 7D.
  when i try to export it to Youtube my Premiere Pro crashes after about 70%.
  i am using Premiere Pro 5.02

  I would say you would want to try a couple things…

  1. Use the “render entire work area” command and render your timeline starting at the end and working your way back in small increments (maybe 2 minutes or less as defined by moving you work area bracket), and saving after each successful completion.

  This may reveal the point in the timeline that is giving you thr problem, and when if the render fails in an area, you can now start to look at a more and more targeted point in time by making smaller and smaller work areas to render.

  This will at least get you to a point of knowing if there is a timeline/media. problem, and where it is…

  2. If you are able to get the entire timeline rendered through this process, chances are that selecting “use previews” in the export setup may get you back in business at least.

  There do seem to be some effects (Magic Bullet Looks comes to mind for me) that Media Encoder doesn’t implement properly and doing a “pre- render” to create a preview file is the way to handle it at this point…

  thank you Tim

  my work area renders perfectly, its the export sequence that is the trouble, but i do have magic bullet treated clips on my sequence.
  i never used previews so i will look into it.

  tried the preview files, no good, still crashes after 60% of export.

  After no end of similar problems trying to render a complete 2 hour film after a year of editing, here are a few things to try.
  First – back-up somewhere safe, your exiting projrct files and any renders.

  1) delete all workarea renders completely.
  2) Clean the Media cache database.
  3) Safe the project and close premiere.

  Reopen premiere
  Open the project and render entire work area.
  Save the project. Close Premiere. Reboot pc.

  Start premiere, open project, export media.

  If it then fails…

  Close preimiere.
  Open Adobe Media Encoder. Try brining in the project and render out from there.

  Thank you for this, Tim. I was looking everywhere for a solution and after reading your suggestion I could easily spot and replace the offending take and export the video.
