Need assistant, I’v just learned that matrox rtx.2 card
doesn’t support real time editing of mxf files that came from xdcam HD, only the axio card does.
my qeustion is,is there a way for me to open a preset project trough the matrox and lower the resolution or quality so i can edit it in real time but when I would like to make a blu ray, I’ll bring it back to it’s original resolution or quality?like in FCP or Avid.when they can lower the quality to get real time.thanx. -

This sounds tricky.
Importing material from XDCAM means not just files, but the whole folder structure.So you would need to create a duplicate folder structure (paths) and then for the video assets you’d need to create a duplicate set of media at 1440 x 1080.
The media conversion could theoretically be done thru Adobe media encoder, then you could edit with one set of media, but later reconnect to the original set of source….
I’d test taking some of the assets and just converting them to Matrox’s MPEG 2 I Frame. I think you’d be pleased with the quality…you’d get real time and not so much hoop jumping….

Thanks for the advice I tried it and the footage works, but the problem is the converted file has only 1 chanel of sound that is mixed from 4 chanels that is in the original file(the mxf file) is there a way that the encoder wil leave the original sound? because if it can it will be worth for me to do all the encoding for all the footage(and theres a lot) and to edit it like that and enjoy the real time and save me the time of the rendering.Thanks again.

Have you tried to import into an adobe only preset sequence?
Are you working specifically with xdcam or xdcamHD they are different. CS4 doesn’t support the xdcamHD version, CS5 does. CS4 with work fine with xdcam (which is still HD footage).

That’s deeper into AME than I know by heart…and I don’t have it in front of me to test.
are the 4 channels all isolated on the source audio?

I can see that it’s 4 chanels recorded.
the thing is that I don’t need all 4 chanels only 2 but they have to b seperat because 1 of them is recording from a wireless mic and 1 from the camera,and I need 2 control the 1 that records from the wireless.so when I do the converting trough AME it mixed the chanels into 1 and I can’t control the chanel I need.. -

Wish I had an answer for the audio.
Have you asked the question on Matrox’s forums at all?
or is there a 3rd party conversion tool that might support better control of the audio portion of the conversion?

“Channels or Output Channels Specify how many audio channels are in the exported file. If you choose fewer channels than are in the master track of a sequence or project, Adobe Media Encoder downmixes the audio.”
Are you not seeing this or what options does it give you?

help But according what u wrote it means that I need to lay the clips on the timeline and then choose the tracks that I want,but the problem is that I need to open a project and import all the clips wait for the conforming to finished and export them trough AME but we r talking here about hundreds of clips,because I’m editing weddings, long weddings,2 and 3 cameras weddings and theres a lot of shooting goin on,so it will take to much time for me to do all this exports, I just wanted to add all the clips to AME give the order to QUE and go to sleep,Thank god my computer can handle it quiqkly and it did when I did it the first time,but back then I didn’t thougt about the sound so I had a lot of work to correct it.Anyways thank u for your help,appreciate it.Gil.
P.s But u did gave an Idea That poped right now,I’ll do the trancoding and what ever need a live feed I’ll import the original clip and use its sound only,intresting.Thank u alex. -

You should still be able to just do things thru AME…
there should be options to select all the audio channels in AME.

How, I’v look trough the settings and havn’t found any option that is related to the chanel, In the audio tab in the settings I have only the option that the softwear gives me wich is set on stereo and the only option I can custum is ether 16bit or 24bit,so if u know on another way to do the audio I’ll be glad to learn and b thankfull forever.Gil.
