m4v from ppCS5 not playing on mac 10.6.4
Hi all,
I just rendered a file in premiere pro cs5 on mac to the dvd blue ray format. I changed the bitrate to 12mb because I wanted it to fit on a regular dvd.
All well there. In ppCS5 it showed that the file would be 4.1gb.
In the end I got two files. The m4v file and a wav file; that I want to pull in iDVD.
Now, non of the app’s won’t play the m4v file. The wav file is ok, but the m4v file doesn’t seem to be.
quicktime says it is in an unrecognized format (??) and vlc pops a full screen but stays black. iDVD also says it is in an unrecognized format (???)
Can anyone help me with this prob?
(just some info: I am trying to process hd footage for over a week now and am having constant probs which are making me almost go nuts here. I captured footage from my Canon HV30 in final cut pro 7 because this goes easier than in pp. The format is 1440 * 1080 and I don’t know how, but every time I rendered it in fcp it always had issues with the dimensions it showed. No matter what I did it always cut off the sides because there is no preset for 1440 * 1080; just 1920 * 1080. Since I used to use pp, my friend gave me his laptop with cs5 on it. And behold this goes without a glitch to process the hd footage.
No probs with the rendering because there are 1440 * 1080 presets in it.
So now I’ve rendered it without problems, but the m4v file isn’t recognized (not on my new macbook pro and on my friend’s.)Can someone please shed a light on this issue please. And I don’t want to fix it with trying weird solutions, I just want to understand it for future projects.
Many thanks and sorry for the long post
