    Newbie questions here…
Working with Premiere Pro CS4. What’s the best way to ingest P2 HD media into my system? I’m running Windows 7 Can I pull the footage directly off the cards from the camera and copy it onto an internal hard drive? Firewire or USB2? I can’t figure it out, and I know this is probably a stupid question, but a little help would be appreciated.

    This should get you started:

    ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/business/provideo/whitepapers/WP_Using_P2HD_with_Adobe_CS4.pdf

The most important thing to know is that you need the complete folder structure from the camera drive.

Our cameras shoot to p2 cards. Panasonic has a free p2 card reader at their web site. From this card reader you can make a virtual p2 card that is a copy of your origional card. You have to keep the file structure reflected in the virtual P2. In after effects or premier, navigate to and import the mfx files in the VIDEO folder of the virtual card. This will bring in video and audio to your bin. You are now good to go.
