I am evaluating Premier Pro. Normally edit in FCP and owned an Avid 3D MC for 8 years.

When I bring 1920*1080i footage into Premiere, it shows the footage is 1920*1080i. On output, and I’ve tried every setting including “forcing” 1920*1080i, all I can get is 1220*1080. On the final output it is 4*3 in a 16*9 box.

The sequence tells me it is 1220*1080i. Tried every setting there also. Tried the Interpret Footage – makes the sequence look wrong – forces it to be too wide.

Any suggestions, having to learn Premiere for an on the road client that uses Windows and Premiere only. Thanks!

Footage being used is shot with JVC HM700 and or HM100 – both while different I like. The 700 is great to work with, nice footage, great balance on your shoulder. You can also intercut the two cameras fairly well. I always carry the 100 for emergencies and if situations where I need to be “less” professional the 100 works well.

Thanks for the reply. CS4 for Premiere Pro. In the sequence settings it says 1280*1080 16:9. DVCPro HD (1.5). That’s my problem. Can’t change them.

    Appreciate the help.

Try to make a new sequence and choose an XDCAM EX/1080I project (50i for pal country and 60i for NTSC country)
    (File/new/sequence)

Then your sequence fits your footage – then there should be no problem.
