CS4 Premier Pro After Effects Problem-
Clip is in CS4 PP. I right click the clip and open in After Effects. AE Keying works fine and the effects I do in AE are represented in the PP project. Saved my work. The next day I opened up my PP project and made a couple of edits (ie. split the clip I used in AE the day before and moved it around a bit and suddenly my clip becomes a red, white, and blue set of bars. What am I doing wrong here?

What’s happened here is the clips that AE were referencing have lost their connection somehow.
If you select one of the DynLink Comps and Edit Original (Ctl+E or Cmd+E) it will open the AE project. Be sure to link up 1 of the files. Hopefully the rest will automatically reconnect. Provided you’ve used the same AE project for all the comps this will fix the entire issue in PPro.
Is it possible you are working from an external drive that may have changed drive letter? Or did you possibly move any of the project files since you last worked on it? Either of these situations will cause this problem.

Thanks for your response. I did not change or move any file names, and working on internal drive. I did open the project back up to re-establish a connection b/t PP and AE but the AE project now has the colored bars and the PP project has the original AE footage but I still can’t move it around without getting bars.
If I open AE in PP and add an effect on a clip, is there anything else I need to do besides save the AE project before closing AE and PP? -
You shouldn’t need to do anything else other than save and close as per normal.
Clearing the media cache may cause this issue…
Once you are in AE relink a clip then the correction on AE should show up in PPro.
Try to save and close AE first, then PPro and relaunch PPro.
If it comes up properly then I’d say that a process hadn’t finished doing something when it was shutdown?
