  • R3D file unsupported on CS4?

I believe this has been asked before, but please take some time to reply because searching has not provided any results. I recently installed Premiere CS4, did all the necessary updates (version is now 4.2.1) and also installed the REDCODE CS4 v. 1.7 from the RED site to work with 3RD files (the RED project settings are there if I want to make a new 4K or 3K sequence). I downloaded RAW R3D files from Scarletuser.com and tried to import them into Premiere. Then I got a message about “unsupported format or damaged file” for each and every sample file I tried to add to the bin. The weird thing is that the files are imported just fine and viewed on After Effects. Anyone has an idea what could be wrong?

When you created a new project, did you choose Red as the project type? You have to choose the correct sequence to match your footage – fps, etc.

Yes, I did. Well, as it turns out only 3 of the clips can’t be imported. All others are ok.

I’m having the same issue. “Unsupported Format” in Premiere. I see the RED Sequence presets, but all of the .r3d files are grayed out. Files work perfect in After Effects. All programs and plugins are up-to-date. All of my .r3d files do not import. Please help.

    Thanks in advance,
    Beau
