Hi, I use Premiere CS3 (which of course includes the Main Concept h.264 encoder). I don’t know a lot about encoders. Has anyone found an alternative h.264 encoder that they think is better than Main Concept? Thanks.

Sorenson Squeeze is regarded as one of the best out there, but it’s pricey.

    Thanks, Vince!

I should add that Mainconcept’s is very good, and I find it is better than Apple’s codec.

I like the quality as well. But I have had ongoing problems with audio being out of sync. When my system was Win XP 32 bit, the audio would lag a few frames. Now that I have Win 7 64-bit, the video is out of sync maybe 6 or 7 frames. :o\ And the QT h.264 codec that I use makes much bigger files than Mainconcept.

Make sure you download the latest update, that was fixed.

Where would I get that? From Adobe or MainConcept? Thanks.

Latest update for Premiere CS4, from Premiere itself.

Unfortunately, I have CS3, not CS4. I do not plan to upgrade my Production Premium Suite again until CS5.

Got it, and that makes sense. Do you have a copy of After Effects?

You could also try uninstalling Quicktime and install a previous version.

Dude, I will check into this. Ever since I installed the newest QT, I have had troubles, including with online players. (and yes, I do have AE, along with the other apps in the Production Premium suite.)
