  Timeline to videotape?

  Hello. I’m using Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 I’m trying to create a videotape from the timeline.

  I used to do this quite a bit a few years ago, but vhs use has really dwindled so I don’t see it anymore.

  Back then I had a Matrox RT2000 and Adobe Premiere 6.5. I would simply setup the break-out-box for analog out, hit record on the vcr and run the timeline. No problem.

  But, I no longer have the Matrox. I have a Canopus ADVC110 and I can’t get it to work. I have the firewire plugged into the back of the 110. I also have the s-video plug and rca audio cables plugged into the back and running into the “in” ports of the VCR. I have tried recording on channels L1, F1, 2, 3 and 4. Nothing.

  I suspect that the Matrox had some software configuration with Premiere and the ADVC110 doesn’t. But I don’t know what to do to configure it so video runs from Premiere to the 110.

  Can someone explain this to me?

  Try connecting a dv camera and setting up the Analog cable out of the cam and into the VCR. Then set up the playback settings to see the dv cam for vision and audio output. Once you’ve got it working to the cam the way you used to playout to tape should work ok. Just make sure you add an extra 5-10sec of black to the head of the timeline for the timeline to get to speed by the time it reaches your actual production.
