    Hi all

I am posting this is desperation to find a solution. I am new (ish) to Premiere and am currently making a short DVD for a school. My problem is that as my laptop does not have a firwire cable (crazy!!), I asked a friend to download footage onto her PC and pass over to me. Here’s the problem…

I think she created a Standrad project in Premiere and downloaded my widescreen footage into a standrad project. when she passed over the clips to me I brought them into a widescreen project in Premiere, not realsiing about the standrad sizeing. When I exported the footage to a DVD last night it appeared in a letterbox on my TV, also with bars at either side.

Its caused so much stress as I need to deliver for TV and to fill the screen! Any ideas on what to do?

    Fingers crossed!

    Thanks

    Lawrence

Regardless of her project settings, capturing via firewire does not change the clips. If she is giving you raw footage from your camera, then your project settings must match the properties of the clip, specifically Pixel Aspect Ratio.
Further, your export settings must also match the above.

    Hi Lawrence,

Standard and Widescreen DV both use the same frame size of 720×480, so even if captured in a 4:3 project, simply changing the pixel aspect ratio *should* correct the situation.

Go into your widescreen project, and in the clip bin, right-click a video clip and choose “Interpret footage” then choose a “DV widescreen 1.2” pixel aspect ratio. I believe you will be able to select multiple clips and do them all at once if this works.
