  Lightning

  Trying to get lightning to work (from one person zapping another).
  I go in 3 seconds in the clip, set a key frame and then another at 5 seconds. But the lightning appears at the beginning of the clip (zero seconds) and never turns off. How do I start and end lightning in the middle of a clip? If I start it off the screen and then bring it in, you can see it travel across the screen.

  I would set the opacity of the lightning to 0 for the first keyframe. Then I would set another keyframe right “before” you want the lighting to apear with the opacity still set to zero. On the next “frame” I would have another keyframe and set the opacity to what you desire for the look of the lightning. That should work.

  apply your lightning to a black solid set to screen blend mode, then trim the solid in and out points along with animating the lightning. It’s not a good idea to try and do everything on one layer.

  There is no opacity setting for lightning??
