Chapter Markers and subsequent edits…
I put together a Memorial for a client that is just shy of an hour long. This was my first foray into Premiere Pro (until now I have mainly used AE for small web pieces and eCards).
When I originally laid out the intro, slideshow, and 35+ video clips I set chapter markers for each. Now as I fine tune the video clips (trimming etc. and adding transitions) I find that I have to adjust all of the downstream chapter markers every time I make a small change. Is there any way to have them “stick” to the exact place they were set to.
The video clips were from old VHS tapes so it was a project in and of itself to get them into PPro and I imported the lot as one continuous clip. Would it have been better to have sliced the clip at each original chapter mark from the get go? I suppose you could argue that the chapter markers are staying stuck to their one particular point in time and that the clip is whats moving (and this would be true) So I may have to just deal with it. I’d like to confirm the logic behind it so that I don’t make this mistake again. And if there were any way to lock the markers to the point in the clip and not the overall timeline of the sequence.

Just a suggestion beyond the obvious (do markers last); Put numbered Clip markers at chapter points…these will slip and slide along during editing. Then add Chapter points when completely done.
Just dont trim the markers away with any timeline edits. -
Thanks — I had a feeling my workflow was flawed or my understanding of the different types of markers at least.
