Even when the preview window is set to ‘High Quality’ and I have paused the video, it still seems like it’s half the resolution of the rendered output. Is there any way to fix this and why is it happening.

    Thanks.

The truth is that, with most editing apps, you will never get a true high quality preview, and that’s why most of us use external monitors.

The solution would be to get AJA card or equivalent, which uses hardware to convert the pixel aspect ratio and display the preview correctly on a second monitor.

I tried using my 2nd Monitor (DVI Widescreen Plasma TV, via a dual Head ATI card). But it seems the combination of Windows 7, ATI Drivers and Premiere CS3 do not allow this. Premiere will not allow me to select this second monitor, in fact it does not show up in the list with DV devices.

    Thanks.
