Hey, do any of you work on a network hard drive, one that is connected via ethernet to a router?

How do you find it works with your editing if your system was connected directly to the router via another ethernet cable?

    And how about wirelessly?

Essentially, I want to share project files amongst 3 different systems in the same room and would like to create a fast and possibly uninterrupted workflow with them (one for basic and final editing, one for special effects, one for audio cleanup/sound and music creation).

A network hard drive is what I have thought about. Does anyone use any other methods that might be better for this situation?

If you are doing SD DV, maybe.
Do a search on “Storage Area Network” or “SAN” and “video”.

A lot depends on where you need realtime playback.

    hope that helps….

look to hardware from Small tree communications and perhaps software like MetaLan from Tiger Technology.
