    Hi forum

I am pulling my hair out.
Every time I start Prem Pro I get the following message

“Prem pro could not find any capable video play modules – Please update your video display drivers”

Now this started suddenly yesterday and I have been using the programme all last week for a job I am half way through with no issues. It was very sudden

I am running vista 64 bit and an ATI radeon X1050 graphics card.

    I have tried following

1/ disable anti virus and firewall – no
    2/ system restore – no
3/ update video driver – no
4/ uninstall and reinstall cs4 suite
5/ msconfig – startup with no other applications or services – no
    6/ kick the machine – no !!!

I am really at a loss. I have seen a couple of forums on the web covering this subject but so far nothing has helped me.

    Any ideas please

    Andy

Did you install anything around the time this started? Maybe there’s some conflict on the machine with the display drivers…?

You might also try a system restore to the last time it worked.

Basically, this is what I would do, short of formatting the drive and reinstalling Vista.

Uninstall all Adobe software, including flash, Acrobat, etc.

Delete all Adobe folders afterwards. First you will have to go to Control panel > Folder options > View and show hidden files and folders.

    Delete from C:Users{yourname}AppDataRoamingAdobe

    C:Users{yourname}AppDataLocalAdobe

    C:Program FilesAdobe

    C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobe

    C:Program Files (x86)Adobe

    C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAdobe

    C:ProgramDataAdobe

This has always solved any issues I’ve had.

This has worked for me, but only temporarily. You go to google type in latest direct X, install the newest one. Restart Premiere, and it works. But after you close prem pro and try to open again, it reappears with that error message.

Well I have finally found the answer – and i have to say – completely unacceptable.

A clean uninstall and reinstall of master suite did the trick second time round. 5 hours of my life completely wasted.
Come on Adobe you can see there is a problem for quite a few people on this one – please create a fix !!!

most of the people posting this error on the forums seem to be getting it on windows only. Anyone know a fix (other than re-install) for getting this error on a Mac? (Premiere Pro 4.2.1, 10.6.2)

This error happens when your adobe is opening using your on board graphics card, Normally a intel card when you are running a radeon as your second video card.

You need to set the application to open using the radeon card or performance graphics as it normally calls it.

Now you do this in catalyst right click the desktop and if its recent it will give you an open to configure switchable graphics.

select the program you want to open and then select the Performance graphics card.

Now this may not work straight away because you will have your bios set to dynamic video card switching.

To change this you need to go into your bios and put it on fixed. this will allow the drivers to control which one you are using not the bios.

this is common on HP’s on windows 7 and you press esc or f1 then from the menu press f10 to get in.

Other systems just follow your guides or google how to get in your bios.

    Hope this helps guys thanks!
