720×404 MPEG2 from NTSC 720×480 wide source
i have rendered out animation codec movies from afx comps set to NTSC DV widescreen 720×480 16×9 (1.2), 29.97 no fields. when i import those into a premierCS3 NTSC DV widescreen project they look correct before rendering in the premier output window and show correct interpretation/PAR info. when i export them to the media encoder i use the NTSC progressive high-quality MPEG-2-DVD settings with the widescreen 16×9 button hi-lited.
in the viewer window of media encoder (which says the output is 720×480) the video is the right 16×9 aspect ratio but too small and shows black all around in the output window. if you go ahead and export, when you look at the actual size of the MPEG2 file that the encoder creates, it is 720×404 pixels. this doesn’t seem right, does encore stretch this file vertically to make the widescreen setting DVD or is something screwed up? shouldn’t it create a 720×480 mpeg2 file? can anyone explain this or even tell me if it’s right or not.
i’m on dual core intel mac with CS3.
