    Hi,

I am setting myself up with a little editing suite and I am looking for advice on what I should be looking for when buying a machine to install premiere pro onto. I want to have it on a laptop. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I wanted to buy an external drive. I heard G-Raid are quite good.

    Thanks,

    Colin

    I assume we’re talking CS4.

Most likely a laptop that runs PPro CS4 won’t be partcularly ‘portable’. I.m running it on a Dell M90 (* couple years old) with 2 GB of RAM and WXP…it works, but dynamc link is pretty much a no go.

I’d get a laptop with as much RAM as you can cram into it, and the largest display possible…

…and an asbestos blanket for your lap.

I’m running it on a HP dv7t I got the end of last year, it has a core2 2.66mhz, 4gigs of ram, 9600mGT 512g video, 17″ screen, two internal Harddrives, a built-in eSATA which I run a 2TB raid0, I’m going to upgrade it to 8gigs as 4gig chips are dropping in price(most laptops have only 2 slots for ram), I picked up another 17″ monitor, next thing is going to be a Matrox MX02 for I/O, external video monitor use, and HDMI to use a camcorder as a live camera head. The laptop is not the lightest machine but the 17″ screen more than makes up for it,
