    Hi All,

I have been shooting in 1080i just for safety reasons as I am buried with business and just went through a 5 month battle to get CS4 working correctly.

I would like to begin shooting and editing in 30p as I hear low light performance (Canon A1) is far better in progressive mode and that many prefer the look.

Can anybody and everybody comment on their experiences using 30P?

    Thanks.

    Todd

I shoot almost everything in a cinema mode 24 fps to 30 fps. I like the more natural feel it gives things. At 60fps things tend to look almost too real in a way. It makes things look almost fake in some weird way.

This is something you kinda have to figure out on your own, its all about preference.

P.s. I do get slightly better low light performance while in 24fps.

We shoot everything 30P on our HPX (DVCPro HD), and wouldn’t think about going back, unless we knew ahead of time that we had to match a lot of interlaced footage in a piece.

As far as low light is concerned, that really depends on the camera used. With progressive, you may actually get away with a lower shutter speed which would improve the low light performance, but it depends on what you are shooting and the look you are after.
