cs4 ieee 1394 not recognised
Dear Creative Cow’s,
I have a very annoying problem, I have recently upgraded from xp pro 32 bit to xp 64 bit. So I also needed to upgrade from prem 2.0 to cs4. Everything works great, don’t like the look of cs4; too dark! The one thing that does not work however is capture via the IEEE 1394 card. I cannot get footage off my camera via the firewire card. I had no problems with prem pro 2.0, exactly same hardware in 32 bit XP. The camera is recognised in device manager, auto play comes up with movie maker and no action. No matter what I do in the capture settings cs4 it will not recognise my Sony DCR-TRV355E digital 8 handycam (Don’t laugh too hard, I am a rank novice, and cannot afford a decent camera).
I have googled this problem with no answers, one person in this forum seems to have a similar problem, IEEE 1394 deck not reconised. There is no answer though!
All my drivers are up to date, though I could not find 64 bit drivers for my OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 card.
I have Winfast DTV 1000 S capture card/digital tv card.
CS4 premiere pro is the only editing software, rest software is antivirus/firewall plus xp 64 bit programs.

I’m not sure what you mean by that.

CS4 is 32-bit and therefor requires 32-bit drivers, even on a 64-bit OS.
Do you have any software that can successfully capture from your handycam?

I’m not sure what you mean by that.
When the camera is turned on and connected via IEEE 1394 windows auto play comes up and gives you two choices use movie maker or no action. In the past premiere pro a third choice!
Do you have any software that can successfully capture from your handycam?
In the past exactly same hardware, premiere pro 2.0 captured great and allowed output to tv monitor. In addition (now with xp 64 bit)can capture via windows movie maker!

Unfortunately, in this instance, WMM is not a good test because it is a native 64-bit application.
Download the trial version of ScLive and test capturing with that to determine if 32-bit apps can successfully capture.

You should be able to capture from the D8 camera just the same way you capture from a dv camera.
When connecting the camera and the pop up shows for WMM just close it and start up Premiere CS4. Select the dv standaard setting to set up a project and then you will be able to capture.
No drivers needed. -
