  • How do you enable safe margins if it’s grayed out?

Posted by Wesley Dysart on February 19, 2009 at 4:41 pm

    Hi,

I’m trying to work on a film for TV broadcast but for some reason I cannot enable safe margins. It’s grayed out. I can see where the manual says to enable them, but the manual doesn’t say what to do if you are unable to enable them.

Anybody know how to remedy this?

    Thanks,

    -Wesley D.

That’s odd. Sounds like a bug somewhere. If you can’t figure out let me know and I’ll send you a transparent template to throw above your timeline. Just let me know the resolution and aspect ratio you are working with.

One of our other editors was able to login to the computer remotely and turn them on. It seems there is a button that will toggle the margins on and off, but the drop down menu is still gray. Very strange, but at least it’s working, halfway.

    Thanks for the reply!

I can’t say for sure if this is the problem, but check under:

Project> Project Settings> Capture> Properties, then check that the Desktop Preview Acceleration is set to None.

I had a similar problem with BlackMagic Design capture hardware on a MacPro running Windows XP and using the standard nVidia GeForce 7300 GT video card.
