recovering Premiere project file
In a fit of digital stupidity I went to enlarge my OS partition to make more space for software; on the adjacent partition, only other one on disk, was a 300Gb project of complex editing. I knew I should leave well enough alone, but I didn’t. The partition failed, and with it took some identifying tag on the partition. I managed to get a label back on the partition and mount it. The avi files etc are on it, OK. However now the prproj files for this either say “may be corrupted” at the outset, or begin to load and after filling the loading bar 4/5th of the way, stops and program freezes.
I had backed up these prproj files to another disk, and I am sure the actual files are not corrupted, but rather that they are not getting the information needed to find the files, courtesy of my idiot partition attempt. Anyway if there is any way to retrieve/save these prproj files it would save me a month of really complex laborious crap work. I don’t mind at all if I have to go find each avi file for it, just to have the order and the data of efx etc. And I promise never to attempt a partition in the middle of a project again. Unless I decide to become a masochist….

A good test for project integrity is to rename the folder(s) that conatain the source footage, effectively hiding them from PPro. Now when you open your project in PPro, select “offline all” when prompted for the new location.
Does the project succeed in loading?
If yes, then you do not have a corrupt project, but one of the clips is the source of the problem.
