  • Will my Windows Master Collection stop working when I install on Mac?

When I upgraded to the CS4 Master Collection (Windows) back in October, I told the Adobe Store rep that I was considering buying a Mac laptop, and would need to run on Windows and Mac simultaneously. No problem, just order the cross-platform upgrade and you’ll be able to run the Windows software on your workstation, and the Mac version on the laptop.

Now that I’ve purchased the laptop, I’m trying to get the cross-platform upgrade. Adobe is telling me that they have to cancel the Windows serial number and issue a new Mac serial number. So my question is this… does anybody know if my Windows software is going to suddenly stop working if the serial number is canceled? Can I go ahead and do the upgrade, and just keep working with the pre-installed Windows software?

CS4 constantly talks to Adobe when your using it. If theyre saying that theyre going to cancel your CDKEY and reissue another one its very likely your windows software will eventually tell you that it cant be used and lock you out.

    Hmmm…

    This is interesting…

I’m considering a Mac Laptop Bootcamp Combo so I can use the Adobe suite under Windows and the FCP suite under OSX depending on what my client requests…

It would be nice to have Adobe on each OS…not sure I want to for out for 2 full separate licenses though.

I’m getting around it now by running the Adobe software under Parallels. All of the design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, etc) run fine, actually better than my Windows system. Haven’t tried editing yet. I hate having to still deal with Windows, though, especially when I have to install fonts on both systems and other stuff like that. It feels like a cheap workaround, and I know it would work so much better natively.

    Thanks,
