Why does PremPro CS3 have to re-render a nested sequence that has already been rendered? This seems painfully inefficient. Did I just miss a setting somewhere?

    Thanks ahead of time.

“Renders” are for preview only. Preview if needed in the original sequences, then have faith all is well in the nested sequence.

So when I use a nested sequence, I don’t have to re-render it???

My usual workflow for an event is to break it up and edit it in a series of sequences (which are rendered for review), then compose a larger sequence of nested sequences to export to DVD. So are you saying I don’t have to deal with the little red bars in the larger sequence of nested sequences???

If that’s the case, then Thog has had a bright light shined into his dim brain !!! He is grateful !!

[terry gipson] “So are you saying I don’t have to deal with the little red bars in the larger sequence of nested sequences???”

The red bars essentially say that if your computer cannot preview this video smoothly, you will need to render it. Does not effect any output options.

Wow! I was sure wasting a lot of time thinking that the red bars affected output. Thanks for the schooling!!

Terry, have you had any success with this advice from Mike? I too do my work flow as you; series of sequences for parts of a half hr tv show and then one stereo master sequence for 1080 output. I thought that I had to at least render the original sequence or the nested final version with green bars. other than preview purposes do we need to even render at all for output in either sequence? Curious to see how its working for you.
