Reference and Program monitor out of sync. Unreliable timeline. Headaches and deadlines.
The project began in Final Cut Pro. The footage was captured from a Z1U as 1080i HDV non-drop frame. < Don't ask why, the editor has only done film. I converted to Blackmagic HD 8-bit .mov files out of Final Cut. I open in PPro in Blackmagic HD project and the fields are separated causing jerky playback. Shift fields filter? I right-click the files, interlace consecutive frames, then export as Blackmagic HD 8-bit avi. I cut the new files to match the Final Cut edit, color correct, etc. The day after I finished color on over an hour of footage, the source clips slide underneath my edit points, causing the color correction to affect the last frame of the clip before it. Thinking maybe the project was too large (15mb project, 700gb data), I created two, half-hour each. Temporary success until the source files slide under the edit points again. I have cut this project 4 times now, re-trimming the clips till the color correction matches the correct frames again. At one point I noticed premiere adding a frame to the end of each clip, shifting the source file back one frame in time. Proof that something is wrong, the reference monitor and program monitor do not match, the reference monitor is always one frame behind, but the timecode is the same. On the first frame of a clip, the waveform shows the previous clip. After exporting to uncompressed and mjpeg, the reference monitor is still incorrect. The worst part is the flash frame noticeable at the end of the clips. I can't take it anymore. Too many hours transferring files, encoding files, working out other PPro bugs... I burned a SD dvd through "export to Encore" and the flash frames remained in medium quality. In high quality they disappeared. Next would like to try a Blu-Ray. When I preview through PPro to my external monitor, it always previews the frames playing from the reference monitor, which is one frame behind the program monitor. So I can't output to tape without these problems! However audio seems to stay in sync. Everyone is bashing me cause I'm on Windows. Is it me or the PC? Need a screener DVD Monday and a digital master soon after. Post was a month behind so now I have to suffer.
