Audio pops and sampling rates
Hello everyone.
I’ve been editing a project in Premiere Pro and I’m getting annoying pops and clicks in the audio, pretty much everywhere there’s an edit. The first bit of audio at the beginning of a cut clip clicks or pops at me. I did a little research and found that this is often due to the audio sampling rate in the project settings not matching the files. Sure enough, I checked the settings on my camera, and it was at 32k and the project was at the default 48k.
I had read that the way to fix this was to create a new project with the proper settings, then import the old project into the new. I did this, but the audio is now silent across the entire project. If I drag a clip from the project window to the timeline, there is audio, but it’s really low and distorted.
I had originally imported the clips from my camera within Premiere using the project with the 48k setting. Did this import the clips at the 48k rate even though they were recorded at 32k? Is there a way to fix this without having to redo the entire project? (What I’d actually do is import the sound into Soundbooth and run it through some filters. Yuck.)
Am I even on the right track? Is there another reason I’m getting pops at the edits?
Thanks for your help.
