    HI,

I’m optimistic that maybe someone can help me. I am editing an architectural project that incorporates live action footage of a building with hidden line (i.e. very clean wireframe) animations exported from Rhino. The animations look very crisp and clear in the source monitor but when I drag them into the sequence they instantly look sort of low-res blurry…. I have turned of frame mode and even tried to render the sequence just to make sure the preview is not lying. There must be something simple I’m missing here.

It sounds like the Program Monitor has the Draft Quality Setting running. Right click in the ProgMon and Select the Highest Quality Setting.

How many editors does it take to change a light bulb?

I wish! No, the program monitor is at the highest quality, they both are. Initially I thought the issue was my output from rhino was too hi-res and the down-sampling to DV res made the image funky so I re-rendered at 864/480 (to match the 16:9 DV /1.2 pixel ratio) and still the same difference in the two monitors.

As a side note; I tried putting the footage in an after effects time comp at DV res and it looks fine… I don’t want to use aftereffects!

    Thanks for the response,
    Aaron

Besides that, the truth is that, unless you preview it on an external monitor (Decklink, AJA, etc.), you’ll never see the original quality. If you want to be sure about, just do a 10 second export to uncompressed.
