20+ hrs to export 90 min wmv file
Hi, this is my first post. I searched for WMV in the forums but i didn’t seem to see this issue, hopefully this isn’t a duplicate.
I’m new to Premiere Pro CS3 so i’m not sure if i’m doing something wrong or not. My company is recording webinars we have and then i have to edit them to repost on our site. We use Go to Meeting which only gives two recording options, their file format which you need to download their plug-in, or WMV. The file that i’m trying to edit and export is 68MB, but when i try to export it, the size bumps up to around 180MB. Since the webinar is basically a powerpoint presentation, i don’t think i can change the frame rate without losing slides.
I’m concerned about the size change since it’s going from wmv to wmv, but i am more concerned with the export time. I’m not adding any effects or colorization, i’m only deleting about 40 secs at the beginning. It seems no matter what setting i pick for WMV it comes up with over 20hrs to export. I even tried quicktime with the same export time result.
I know that WMV really isn’t a file for editing so should i convert it over to avi first? I’m not sure if the format is causing this. I also read that having the file on the same hard drive as where its writing to, which is what i’m doing, may cause issues.
My system is:
Windows XP SP2
AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual
Core Processor 5200+
2.61 Ghz with 2 GB of RAM
Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 400GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/sThank you in advance for any help.
