I am using Premier Pro CS3 and was asked to edit 4 mini DVD’s from a school event. I converted the VOB files with TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress into avi files, but so large made PP run very slow. I then converted to MPEG-4 and I imported that into PP. However when it gets around 8-12 minuets into the video the audio drops out completely. I have checked the original, and there are no audio problems. Is there a setting that I am over looking? They all seem to kill the audio at around the same time. Thanks for your help, Brian

Mpeg 4 files are not suitable for editing…at least in CS3. Convert your VOB files into DV.avi (type 2).

Can you go into specifics why. I am also working on a project where the footage was shot from a Sony xdcam and the file format is mpeg-4. I am trying to play my clips in PP and I am dropping frames and audio.
