Similar prob to brightness flicker…………………
Have dv footage scaled slightly (103%) with text on top .
When output to a quicktime (animation 100%) the playback on a TV monitor flickers ??is it something to do with interlacing ??
what should I do ?
what is the proceedure with interlaced footage ?the final output will be from tape to projector (we think)

You should interpret the footage (file>interpret footage>main), separating the fields as lower field first in the case of DV.
If you do not separate fields, and you scale the footage, you’re in for some ugliness.

cant begin to tell you the number of times you have saved my ass…one more thing the footage has been streched to 110% . will this have any bearing ?
is frame blending anything to do with this ?? -
Just make sure you separate fields, as I mentioned. 110% is not bad, but it’s nearing the point where we notice pixellation. Which has nothing to do with fields.
And frame blending is something else.
I recommend you get the Creating Motion Graphics books by Trish and Chris Meyer.

you missunderstood me..(i didnt explain very well)
i meant it was time streched to 110-120%.. i was wonering where after effects finds the extra frames and if frame blending helped with this ??but yes i need to get me that book….

Well, unless you use Twixtor or AE 7’s new thing, AE just repeats frames and plays those frames again at lower opacity to give an illusion of smoothness. It doesn’t actually create new images.
So you might see some flickering there.

we seem to have got away with it… I did the interpret footage thing and the rendererd mov.s look fine.
No flickering no interlace lines..
