  • Still get Errors with Quicktime 7.3.1

I’ve read many threads about the problems with Quicktime 7.4.1 and the need to revert to the previous version in order to work around PP export issues. Oddly enough, until recently, I had no problems with PP and QT 7.4.1. It was After Effects that was having issues exporting to a QT file and so I reverted to version 7.3.1. This resolved my AE issues but now I’m unable to export QT files from PP. I’ve tried going back to 7.4.1 but the issues still isn’t getting resolved. I’m getting the dreaded “Export Error” that reads “Error compiling movie. Unable to create or open output file.”

Anyone have any suggestions? I’ve had zero luck finding any threads online about this specific issue. Any help is much appreciated!

    1. What are the QT export settings. Many QT files have a Windows file size limit of 2 or 4 gig.

    2. Why do you need a QT file on a PC?, because Premiere cannot create decent quality/size QT files except in the H264 (.mp4 or .mov extension) format which works fine on my PC with 7.4.1 QT player.

    3. Surely you are exporting to a drive with plenty of space and not a DVD/CD drive.

I read a post somewhere where someone had luck by exporting to the root of their drive, not to a folder.

    Worth a try, I suppose.

Thanks for the help! Exporting to the root drive works perfectly.
