    Hello,

I use Tricaster Pro to record events, and then do post production in Premiere Pro. Premiere Pro and Encore crash with these Tricaster AVIs, and it is really sporadic. I can’t make a movie at times, nor burn to DVD.

    Any solutions?

Download GSpot…it is free app to analyze codecs and such. Open one of your files in it and reply to this by copy/paste the info in Container and Codec into the reply.

    Hi Mike,

    Thanks for responding.

Here’s what is in the container:

Note: 13.7 GB unneeded bytes at end of file
    Multipart OpenDML AVI (5 parts)
(177163 frames in first part, -3 frames follow)

    —————————————–

Here is what it said in codec:

Codec: NT25 Name: Status: Codec(s) are Installed

    ——————————————

Note, I do have the Tricaster Codec installed on my computer so that I can work on the files. With some of the AVIs that Tricaster creates, I have no problems with, but others I do. Whenever Premiere is about to crash, it is easy to spot, because the video starts to “stutter” and the audio is no longer synced up.

    Not sure what that means. If the file is about an hour long, it is probably DV. Here is my DV container;
    File Length Correct
    DV Type 2 AVI
    AVI v1.0
    DV Audio/Video: 396 MB (96.54%)
AVI Copy of DV Audio: 14.1 MB (3.44%)
    AVI Overhead: 86.8 KB (0.02%)

I suspect that you will need to convert your clips into Microsoft’s DirectShow Type 2 because Premiere’s API module cant handle that codec well. It should be a fast process and all that will be changed is the wrapper. Check with NewTek web site about a conversion utility.

Also check my post above about GSpot!

I edit a few files from Tricaster on PPro CS3 with no problems.

I did however download and install the Newtek Multi-Codec pack from their site.

At our church, I have edited on PPRO 1.5 with the same codecs . . . with no problem.

    Hope that helps!
