  • Trial install OK Vista Ultimate, fails on Vista Business

Question in brief: Does anyone here have experience of PP CS3 running OK on Windows Vista Business edition?

    In detail:
I teach multimedia and I am testing in advance of my colleagues planning to change our institution lab machine image over to Vista Business for next year. We have been using Ulead Mediastudio Pro 8 for the video clip editing parts of our courses but we have discovered it does not run under Vista and we are investigating a change to Adobe.
I find that Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 trial fails to install on Vista Business. It works when I try again with Vista Ultimate. The 2 machines tested are the same being 2 x locally assembled PC clones. Adobe claim that this product does run on Vista Business.

Details of fail to install = run setup.exe, briefly get a first popup progress box then setup.exe stops and vanishes without trace eg nothing in Task Manager.

One significant difference I can think of is that the Vista Business test machine also has Cyberlink PowerDVD installed. Are there any known issues with Cyberlink?

If anyone else does have PP CS3 installing and running ok on Windows Vista “Business Edition” then that would encourage me to dig deeper into issues like drivers.
