Playback of what? DV, HDV, WMV??
Running a virus or spyware scanner?
Choppy Playback is typically a hard drive issue. Tell us about your hardware setup.

Of course sorry, here’s the info…
Playback in “Program Monitor” Box is Dell Optiplex 210L with P4 3.2 Gig and (now) 2 gig of RAM. HD is 320 gig SATA 7200 with 33% free space (presently being defragged) Anti virus scanner disabled momentarily.

I am wondering about settings of Scratch disks. I have two on board drives (C:\ 160 SATA and E:\the above 320 gig) Also have two outboard USBs. a 320 and a 500 mostly for backup and archiving. Current project has approx 8.5 hours captured raw video split into 527 clips, maybe this is what is causing choppyiness.
What are reccomended settings for Scratch disks using the above configuration of hardware.

    Regards
    Richard
