  • PPro CS3 Export to DVD now Encore only?

Is the Export to DVD(menued) functionality that existed in PPro2 gone, or is that choice so well hidden that I haven’t found it? We have a workflow for simple menued DVDs that works very well w/ PPro2 and I hate to lose it by upgrading to CS3 on our production machines.

    Look here: File/Export/Export to Encore

You’ll have two choices: Export With and Without Menus..

If you’re just wanting to create a DVD without menus, you’ll never believe how easy it is to create a DVD!

Even with menus, Encore is fairly easy to learn.

(I say it is easy, but my Wife would have preferred a ‘wizzard’ to help her along with DVD with menus!)

    Jan,

Our workflow in PPro2 was simple:
Drag multiple sequences to the timeline
    Auto Generate DVD markers
Import new BG for the DVD menu
    Rename Chapters
Create ISO file “instant” menued DVD

The steps in Encore while easy for you and I, are different (and more error prone, IMO) than those that I’ve outlined above.

Adding the ability to use Encore for the added capabilities that it provides – Excellent!

Removing the existing functionality of PPro2? – not good for our workflow . . .

    Best,

I must admit, aside from ‘dragging multiple sequences to the timeline’ (would it be possible to highlight more than one sequence in PP and ‘Export to Encore’ all these at once?), I don’t see how exporting to Encore disadvantages you.

The tasks in the list are as simple as they were in PP2 and certainly more flexible.

    Doesn’t Encore cost extra?

    George,

I can’t speak to all of the Adobe pkgs that include Premiere Pro, but the upgrade we are considering includes Encore.
