Looking for a budget laptop to use Adobe premier Pro and Photoshop running Windows Vista. Please share your setup and experience. I work with mostly 5 megapixel images nothing larger and raw AVI files for video editing stored on external drive.

Please help to make the right choice.

Greatly appreciate any advise or info.

    Mike

    What does “budget” mean?

My Dell M90 has been very good but I consider it a workstation replacement so the 3000.00-3500.00 purchase price seems pretty reasonable to me.

Frankly, using Adobe software can be a challenge on under-powered systems…I would prioritize very carefully.

    Hi Tim,
did you have any upgrades? or is it a standard setup?

there are the basic comes with 512 ram with is way to low for graphic work even the enhanced only has 1 gb of ram.

    they are under 2K now.

    Best regards,
    Mike.

Mine is a T7400 (2.16 GHz) with 2 GB of RAM and a 100 GB internal drive and the WUXGA (1920×1200) display with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M display card…

It still comes up around 3200.00.

I just helped someone customize a laptop for Production Studio, it was a HP DV9500, T7700 2.4ghz, 2gig memory, 160gig sata, Geforce 8400m, 1680×1050 17″, 8x lightscribe DVD burner, Hi-Cap Bat, $1700, there is space for another on board sata drive, the ad-on carrier is available from HP.

I have the machine Blast mentionned. A Little fragile, but very bright display.

Opt for (2) 7200 sata drives, you can also buy a eStata II express card for single external drive or even a raid setup.

The graphic card is a Go7600 which can still handle HD very well, at least with Cineform. SD, no problems at full quality.

Maxed out with Core 2 duo and 2 Gigs of ram, you can get it for under $2000.00

    Cheers,

    Vince
