  Conforming right after Capture takes FOREVER!

  Now, there must be something I’m doing wrong. I just captured 14 minutes of 1080i60 HDV footage and now Premiere is “conforming” it. It looks like it’s gonna take _dozens_ of hours. And the task manager reports that Premiere is only using 20% of the CPU!

  Is this normal? Why does it need to conform the video if it just came off the tape? Is it converting it into a different format? Where? Does it leave the original file alone, or is it modifying the original file? Why does it play fine in Windows Media Player without all this conforming nonsense?

  Premiere Pro 2, Windows XP, dual CPUs, 2 GB Ram.

  What are your project settings?
